The American Revolution: In this section we will learn about the founding of the United States of America. we have learned how Enlightenment thinkers and their ideas began to challenge the relationship between rulers and the people. These ideas came to the British Colonies in America, and forever changed the world, as a our founding fathers broke away from British rule to establish a new independent country called the United States of America. George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, Alexander Hamilton and many others established a republic founded on the ideas of individual liberty. Although the republic was far from perfect, it set in motion a movement that continues today. It also inspired other revolutions around the world. You will learn much more in the 8th grade, but in this section you will learn how it all started.
